Fluorescent bulb flashes on 3way when turned off.?
I recently replaced the 3way switches in my home. The switches are wired correctly as far as I know, they work independently. The wiring is original, house was built in 1939. Its not nob & tube. There are no ground wires in boxes. Its copper wire and the 3way switches all have 3 wires on them at either end. If i use a normal non-fluorescent bulb it doesn't flash or pulse every couple seconds. I installed lighted switches. The old 3ways were not lighted and the fluoresent bulb didn't flash with the old switches. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
The fluorescent bulb's flashing when turned 'OFF' is normal when used w/illuminated 3 way switches.
The flashing is a normal condition caused by current bleeding/leaking thru the resistor that's used in conjunction w/the switch's illuminating neon. This current is normally insufficient to illuminate an incandescent bulb.
Simplest solution?
Don't use illuminated 3 way switches in this application.

Aren't the '3 way' florescent bulbs called that because of the 3 distinct light level outputs they can produce when used in a 3 way FIXTURE?
