Craigslist refund question?
I recently sold a fixed frame projector screen on craigslist. Having little knowledge of projector screens, the measurements I advertised included the frame of the screen. The buyer came and inspected for an hour, I helped him dismantle the piece of equipment and we completed the transaction and I canceled all other viewing appointments. The next morning I received obnoxious emails saying that the screen was smaller than the buyer thought becuase I included the frame in my measurements even though he viewed it prior to the sale. Craigslist transactions are "AS IS." Does the buyer have a right to a return?
Not at all. He saw it and could have measured it for himself. Every used item is As Is. Only on Ebay is there a refund policy in place because it is an auction site, items are unseen, and Ebay offers some protections for the buyers. Craigslist is purely a classified ad web site, as you would see in the newspaper. You have no legal obligation to refund the money and I would not do it in this case. He can re-sell it and find another one. It is not your responsibility. He has to be a grown up.
